MEET THE OWNER
JALISCA THOMASON, EDD
Jalisca is an educator and an artist. She spent a decade as a high school agriculture teacher in California, coaching Floral Design Teams and teaching introductory and advanced floral design. Jalisca is currently a full professor at Bakersfield College in the area of forestry and natural resources, with the occasional section of Floral Design. Jalisca started her studio, Rustic Roots in 2010 and enjoys working in her home based studio. Jalisca enjoys outdoor recreation with her husband and two children, and has an ever expanding collection of flowers, fuzzy dogs and fluffy chickens.

If you do one thing for your wedding, HIRE JALISCA! I have admired her work for YEARS and knew when our day came she would be our florist. Jalisca poured so much of herself into our florals; from the table decor to the literal tornado she wrapped around one of the posts at our venue, every single piece was superb. My bouquet was out of this world; I cannot get over how much I loved it, and my dog's flower collar was *chefs kiss* perfection. Each and every stem was beautifully and intentionally placed. Our florals were the focal point of our wedding decor. I am not joking when I say even the men at our wedding were impressed with the florals. Jalisca is extremely talented, professional, and amazing to be around. Her close proximity to and extensive knowledge of Sequoia National Park make her perfect for everything from large weddings to the tiniest elopements. You will not regret letting Jalisca’s creativity shine on your wedding day!

I found Rustic Roots on the Knot and had no idea what kind of florals I was looking for, but I had Pinterest inspiration and blindly trusted Jalisca’s vision and recommendations. To say I was blown away is a complete understatement. Everything was put together so perfectly and beautifully that pictures didn’t even do it justice. My bouquet was gorgeous beyond words. The bridesmaid bouquets were just as beautiful, and like nothing I was expecting, in the best way. The boutonnières for the groom and groomsmen were so beautiful and tied in so well. We had a hexagonal arch for our ceremony, and it was covered with the most beautiful display. I truly cannot give enough praise!
